The Miami Short Film Festival announces selected films & news events:
MIAMI, FL (September 25, 2022) - With over 700 submissions from all corners of the globe, 113 short films (under 20 minutes) have been chosen to screen in The 12th Annual Miami Short Film Festival.
This season, when the curtains rise on Opening Night to kick off the week-long packed screening schedule, patrons of the Miami short Film Festival will be privy to a taste of a virtual cinematic smorgasbord. The subsequent seven days this November will feature 23 screenings, each consisting of 4-10 films threaded thematically to create a powerhouse eighty minutes. Films have been framed through the following thematic motifs:
Matter and Mortality
Opening Night: The Feel-Good
Blood Red Youth
Spotlight: Miami’s Filmmakers
The Other Side of the World
Endings & Beginnings
Living in Colour
Between The Lines
Bizarre Love Triangle
Some notable appearances include Rumer Willis in Six Letter Word, Tom Noonan in Skinhead Requiem, and Rosanna Arquette in No Love Song. Films from over 25 countries will screen from November 8th through November 15th at the Paragon Grove 13 located at CocoWalk at 6:30pm and 8:30pm. Special Encore presentations, MsFF After Dark, will screen nightly at 9pm at the Miami Beach Cinematheque.
Miami short Film Festival will be hosting a FREE pre-festival screening of selected winning shorts that have graced the Festival in the past will be presented on Sunday, November 3rd at the North Beach Bandshell which features state-of-the-art projection and sound for an outstanding outdoor cinematic experience under the stars. This event is made possible with the support of the City of Miami Beach Department of Tourism and Cultural Development, Office of Cultural Affairs, and the Miami Beach Mayor and City Commissioners.
The 12th edition of the Festival will then rev-up its engine for the kickoff party on the night of Thursday, November 7thth at the beautiful Sonesta Bayfront Hotel. It will be a private event for Miami short Film Festival filmmakers, members, sponsors, and media. The unveiling of the MsFF 2013 Official Poster by internationally renowned multimedia artist, Eleazar Delgado, will be the highlight of the evening.
The Grand Opening Red Carpet event (Friday, November 8th) at CocoWalk Mall will kick-off the week-long celebration.
Cocktails hours and after parties will occur throughout the week in various venues located in Coconut Grove and will be open to the evening’s festival ticketholders, as well as our visiting local and international filmmakers (dates and times to follow).
The festival will wrap up on November 15th with an Awards Ceremony at The Paragon Grove 13 located at CocoWalk, where the winning filmmakers in different categories will be announced and immediately preceding our “Closing Party” celebration at one of the exclusive venues in The Grove (Venue TBA).
