Last Sunday, Father’ s Day, was sunny and hot, a total contrast to the rainy days we have been having this weekend. The CocoWalk Courtyard was steaming with sunny smiles and scorching Classic Rock to celebrate all the dads who stopped by.
Sans of Tyme, a local 4-piece Classic Rock band of music veterans, transported the gathering back to the ‘60s and ‘70s with a powerful performance. Three outstanding lead singers took turns reeling off hit after hit, from the Beatles to Roy Orbison, the Eagles to James Brown, baked onto beats driven by drummer Tony Sinatra. It was fantastic to see the all-ages crowd rockin’ out, smiling, singing, cheering, and clapping after nearly every song. It was a real Grove style Rock’n Fun Father’s Day.
Even if it’s rainy today, there’s plenty to do. Stop by Bice Bistro for a nice Italian meal, Bloody Marys and Mimosas are only $5 at brunch on weekends; or one of my favorites, the Thai Lettuce Tacos at The Cheesecake Factory! “Abe Lincoln, Vampire Killer,” is playing at Paragon Grove 13 now, too.
