The Grove, as it is affectionately known, is one of Miami’s oldest historic villages, dating as far back as 1825. Bestowed the name Coconut Grove in 1873, it soon became popular with sailors, Northeasterners, Europeans, Bahamians, and businesses because of its ideal location alongside Sailboat Bay, a protected area of Biscayne Bay. It became its own city in 1919, but was annexed by the city of Miami in 1925.
The Grove now exudes casual sophistication and chic style. CocoWalk, the Grande Dame in the heart of Coconut Grove, welcomes visitors with an easy going attitude that offers a distinctive substitute to the standard South Florida stopover.
Grove style is underscored by sailing, fitness, and art and culture lifestyles. Coconut Grove has long been recognized as the original “art district.” Since the early ‘60s, the Grove has been home to renowned artists, painters, sculptors, writers, poets, actors, musicians, and artistic free spirits.
Experience for yourself the charm and charisma of the Grove and shop, dine, unwind at CocoWalk!
